When a touring vehicle is at a standstill, the on-board battery is primarily charged (charger, solar, fuel cell etc.). If the vehicle is left unused for a prolonged period of time, the starter battery will continue to be discharged due to the battery disconnection. However, many vehicles also charge the starter battery during this season because some consumers (radio, multimedia, parking lights, alarm system etc.) are always connected to it. The standby chargers ensure that the starter battery – depending on the charge status of the on-board battery – is also charged. For pure battery maintenance, the 0 A–2 A version is usually sufficient. However, we generally recommend the 0 A–5 A PRO version because modern LiFePO4 (lithium) batteries can also be connected as on-board batteries.
